You've GOT to LOVE the information age. Talk about your Paradigm Shifts. Just two days ago I was taking Fox and the Gloucester Times to task for not providing basic 5 W information, or, apparently, even ASKING the basic questions on the Gloucester 17. Today, noonish, low and behold!, on Happening Now, Generic Fox Blond is interviewing "Pat" from the GT and IS asking Who, What, When, Where, Why, How? And Pat is ADMITTING they are, at least, TRYING to get said answers! Damn! Did I do that?
Probably not, unless it was in a minuscule way as a tiny part of a trend. Coincidence is not Cause and Effect.
On the other hand, perhaps there are LOTS of people out there who "think like me." Something or somebody seems to have lit a fire under ‘em.
Now everybody is circling the wagons, backpedaling at World Record 40 pace and trotting out the Hoary New England Tradition of Omerta, Irish Version 2K08.
[By the way, Principle Joe Sullivan, now the sacrificial deer in the community headlights, is very possibly a distant cousin. I got some Sullivan kin folk! Atta boy, Joe, old sod, don’t tell the Limey Bastids NOTHIN!]
Lest we forget in this sudden, uncharacteristic, rush of "we really don’t have the facts yet" (like when has that ever stopped the 4th Estate) a few Facts are self-evident.
1. Anything of 17 other than School Sponsored in a High School that size is de facto "gang related."
2. Sex with a minor is, by law, Rape.
3. One would think Gang Related Rape would be of some concern to Gloucester even if Teen Pregnancy out of Wedlock was not.
In his interview with Generic Fox Blond today, however, GT Pat simply enlarged my idea of the possible.
You know what the cover story is now? The Spin? (We have GOT to get Oh?Really?, Greta, Miller, Hannity and especially Ingram asking the questions of these morons.)
Pat floated the Talking Point that, what in Texas is Criminal Rape by a Cult REQUIRING State Custody of the Minors, and anywhere else would be "gang activity", is now, in Gloucester, merely "a fashion statement."
You go girls! A new line of Maternity Wear "Gloucester 17."
And speaking of the possible, how is it that we can get Classified Top Secret Intelligence Reports, and know who outed Valery Plame, but find the Press helpless in the face of Teen Peer Pressure?
Perhaps we should turn National Security Secret Keeping over to the Gloucester 17, their kin and classmates, and Gloucester Mass, en masse. The Gloucester Times could have the Counter Intelligence Brief.
If it wasn’t so pathetic, if these girls weren’t desperately in need of help, if the community didn’t equally desperately need a Attitude Adjustment, it would be a HOOT!
Once can’t help but compare the LATEST Texas outrage, the Kiddie Porn Silly drug/Sex Show. There it’s the Baptists who want to clam up and move on–but at least they want the Swinger Cult out of town first. (One would have thought executed was a more Biblical Approach.) The RC’s in Gloucester beat any WVA backwoods Puritan I ever saw for valuing not talking about it over the Scriptural Doctrines of Confession, Repentance, Penance, Restitution and Reconciliation.
Be interesting to see how quickly this is all allowed to die.
On the other hand, if I was the girls, I'd go for that "Gloucester 17" logo. After all the Community is on hard economic times, this could turn things around.
One wonders, too, if anyone in the Media will have the guts to critique the Coverage of the Mass Cult as opposed to the Texas ones.
Texas is W's turf. Mass is Kennedy/Hussein . Apparently that makes a difference.
